Sports Ireland Campus

The Sport Ireland Campus in Blanchardstown is one of Europe’s largest integrated multi-sport environments, hosting elite training facilities, national governing body headquarters and high-performance sporting venues.

Facilities management across the campus is delivered by Bidvest Noonan, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient operations across a diverse estate of buildings.

With sustainability central to Sport Ireland’s strategy, improving resource efficiency while maintaining robust Legionella risk management is a key operational priority.

Challenge

Facilities management provider Bidvest Noonan had historically relied on manual processes to manage Legionella risk across the estate. While compliant, this traditional approach required significant staff time and resulted in large volumes of water being flushed regardless of actual usage.

Key challenges included:

  • Blanket flushing of Little Use Outlets (LUOs), as there was no data to confirm recent outlet usage
  • High labour requirements, with staff manually visiting outlets weekly
  • Significant water and energy consumption from unnecessary flushing
  • Manual monthly temperature checks for compliance monitoring
  • Limited visibility of system performance between inspection intervals

Solution

To improve efficiency while strengthening compliance, Bidvest Noonan deployed 72 smart temperature sensors from CreevX across four key buildings on the campus.

These sensors continuously monitor water temperature every 15 minutes, providing near real-time data on outlet conditions and usage patterns. This enables facilities teams to move from blanket flushing to data-driven flushing, identifying only the outlets that genuinely require intervention.

The system also eliminates the need for manual monthly temperature checks while providing continuous visibility of system performance, supporting both compliance and predictive maintenance.

Results

The implementation has successfully delivered:

Improved business resilience

Enhanced compliance visibility, early identification of potential plumbing or heating issues, and stronger confidence in ESG reporting.

Summary

The deployment of CreevX smart monitoring at the Sports Ireland Campus shows how digital water management can boost compliance while supporting sustainability and efficiency.
Benefits include enhanced Legionella compliance, reduced unnecessary flushing, lower water, energy, and carbon use, lighter workloads for facilities teams, and improved system visibility with predictive maintenance.
As Sports Ireland embeds sustainability across campus operations, solutions that enhance resource efficiency, data transparency, and environmental performance will be key to achieving its long-term ESG goals
